Kris Kapoor, CFA

Kris Kapoor, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Kris Kapoor is CIO for Bakala Capital, where he works with a strong team of investment professionals to manage a globally diversified, multi-asset class portfolio. Prior to joining the group, he was CIO at Furman University. Prior to Furman, Kris worked for BB&T Asset Management and Michelin North America, where he was Vice President/Portfolio Manager and Manager of Pension Investments, respectively. Kris brings a patient, disciplined approach to long-term asset management and is a strong believer in building a strong team culture that best serves the mission of Bakala Capital.

Kris is a CFA charterholder. He graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later attended Thunderbird, where he received an International MBA, which he earned with distinction.

Kris lives in Greenville with his wife and two children. He enjoys golf, hiking and traveling with his family and friends.

Antonin (‘Tonda’) Dvorak, CFA

Antonin (‘Tonda’) Dvorak, CFA

Director, Private Equity

Antonin is Director of Private Equity at Bakala Capital, where he primarily focuses on direct company investments and fund investments across Europe. Prior to joining the group, Antonín was a Director at Jet Investment, the largest buy-out PE manager in the Czech Republic. Prior to Jet, he was a VP at BXR, a multi-family investment office, based in London. Earlier in his career he was a member of PricewaterhouseCooper’s Valuation & Strategy team in Prague. Tonda’s background, especially valuation and transaction execution of direct equity opportunities, is a valuable complement to the team.

Antonin is a CFA charter holder and has an MSc. in Business Administration and Management from the University of Economics, Prague and an MSc. in Sport Management from the Charles University.

Tonda lives in Prague, Czech Republic and enjoys cycling, hockey, spending time outdoors and watching old films.

Seth Heren, CFA

Principal, Private Markets

Seth Heren is Principal of Private Markets for Bakala Capital, where he primarily focuses on the investment management of the Private Market funds portfolio. Prior to joining the group, he was a Senior Analyst at the Alfred I. duPont Charitable Trust in Jacksonville, Florida. Seth maintains a strong network of industry professionals, both asset owners and general partners. His prior experiences and skillset will also help the team with alternative asset data management and prospect sourcing.

Seth is a CFA charterholder. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in International Business.

Seth recently moved to Greenville with his wife after previously living in Florida and Michigan. He enjoys college football, fitness, and the outdoors.

Gregory Vincent, CFA

Gregory Vincent, CFA

Principal, Public Markets

Gregory Vincent is Principal of Public Markets at Bakala Capital, where he primarily focuses on the investment management of the Public Markets Portfolio. Prior to joining the group, he was an Investment Strategist at Stratos Wealth Partners in South Carolina. Earlier in his career, Gregory served as an Investment Analyst with the Corporate Treasury Investment Team at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. He is a valuable contributor to Bakala Capital, with a wealth of experience in portfolio strategy, manager evaluation and advanced modeling, among many other skills.

Gregory holds the CFA charter and the CFP® certification. He received a B.S. in Economics with a Minor in Finance from College of Charleston.

Greg lives in the Greenville area where he loves spending time with his wife and daughter. He enjoys reading, baking bread and spending time with friends and family.

Meghan Pierson

Meghan Pierson

Chief Operating Officer

Meghan Pierson is the Chief Operating Officer for Bakala Capital. Her primary focus is to ensure that all business processes are efficient and effective. Prior to joining the group, Meghan was an Assistant Vice President in Commercial Lending for a top financial institution in Chicago. During this time, Meghan focused on complex transactions including leverage buyouts and merger and acquisitions. Additionally, she worked closely with other team members to cross-sell products, such as a Treasury Management and Foreign Exchange.

Meghan is a magnum cum laude in Master of Business Administration from North Central College. While studying for her Masters, Meghan was offered to study abroad in the United Arab Emirates where she found her passion for International Business.

Meghan recently located to Greenville after living in Chicago for a majority her life. She enjoys golf, tennis, and reading.

Iva Baranova

Iva Baranova

Philanthropy Manager

Iva is responsible for developing the Bakala family’s international portfolio of philanthropic activities. She is also a member of the board of the Bakala Foundation in Prague.

Having conducted legal practice for over 15 years, Iva has worked for major foreign and domestic clients in the financial sector. As a senior associate at KPMG Legal, she spent a large part of her career advising on structuring and implementing investments. She joined one of the Big Four firms after several years in the international banking team for Central and Eastern Europe at the legal office of CMS Cameron McKenna and a 6-month internship at the London office of UniCredit Bank AG. Iva graduated from the Faculty of Law at Palacky University in Olomouc and completed study programs at the Faculty of Law in Salzburg, Austria, and George Washington University in the USA.

Her hobbies include dancing, theatre – ballet and opera, and practicing yoga.

Silvie Gerecz

Travel Director

Since 2008, Silvie Gerecz has been Travel Director for Bakala Capital founders including their extended family members and guests. Her attention to details ensures the comfort, security and round-the-clock problem solving for the Founders when they are on the move. Additionally, Silvie also oversees the maintenance and management of the company plane and crew.

After graduating from the Economic Institute of Neratovice, CR, Silvie worked in a variety of service provisioning roles for clients like Rann Globalnet, Goldman Sachs, Sante Holding and AAA Auto.

Silvie has always been a keen tennis player, and looks forward to teaching her daughter about the fine art of winning.

Besides being involved with Bakala Capital Group since 2015, Marketa is also experienced in transport and logistics, when she worked in a similar position for C.S.Cargo, and in the hotel industry. She has not only worked as an assistant, but her experience has also extended to quality management, marketing and HR.

Markéta’s greatest passions are continuous learning and personal development. After studying tourism at college in Prague, she has supplemented her knowledge with two certified coach trainings, as a fitness trainer, and has recently completed an MBA program focused on Couching, Mentoring and Leadership.

She enjoys spending her free time with her loved ones, playing sports and loving all good things, be it books, food or wine.

Michal is an IT manager, network administrator and IT enthusiast with an over 20-year track record. He manages the company’s offline and online IT infrastructure besides overseeing various network, audio-video, and smart-home equipment on our sites in three time zones around the globe.

Michal is a keen subscriber to global IT trends and developments and is prompt at incorporating any new shifts that may make things smoother, smarter and safer at Bakala Capital. Always a keen learner, Michal is continually learning the dynamic ways of IT.

Veroniki Stross

Office Manager & Personal Assistant to Michaela and Zdenek Bakala

Veroniki is the Personal Assistant to Michaela and Zdenek Bakala and Officer Manager for the Bakala Capital team in Prague, where her main role is to ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations at the premises.

Veroniki has over 15 years of experience as personal assistant to CEOs and business owners, besides managing offices. Prior to this career path, she spent 11 years as Commercial Assistant at Air France. Veroniki earned a Master’s degree in Andragogy and Educational Management at the Jan Amos Komensky University in Prague.

Veroniki lives in Prague and enjoys golf, swimming and running.

Jaroslav Vystrk

In-House Lawyer

Jaroslav Vystrk is the In-House Lawyer for Bakala Capital s.r.o. His primary focus is to provide general in-house corporate legal support to Bakala Capital and its affiliates, with a particular emphasis on providing transaction support to the team at Asental Group. Jaroslav has worked for over 13 years as General Counsel with a multinational industrial & engineering corporation, leading the legal teams in integrated production units in the Czech Republic and Poland. More recently, he worked as an attorney with a major law firm in the Czech Republic, focusing on corporate governance, M&A transactions, and employment law. He is a Graduate of Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, holding a Master of Law in legal science.

He lives nearby Ostrava, Czech Republic, with his wife and four kids. He is a caravan fan, enjoys camping and all outdoor activities, and is passionate about hiking and skiing.

IT Specialist

Eric is an IT Specialist, System Administrator, and Help Desk Support. His primary focus is ensuring the smooth operation of cloud services and assisting with both the company’s offline and online IT infrastructure. Eric began his career in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. After six years of military service, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Clemson University. His prior experiences involve software lifecycle, automation, and technical support.

Eric lives in the Greenville area and enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He enjoys painting, gardening, mushroom hunting, and strategy games.
